Davao City Tops The List Of New BPO Outsourcing Cities

Davao tops the list of the 2010 Top 10 Next Wave Cities for outsourcing operations as the city scored high on availability of qualified talent and infrastructure that more than make up for its low scores on business environment and risk management, and cost. The annual list of Next Wave Cities, prepared by the Commission on ICT, Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), was announced Friday. Larsen & Toubro To Enter Into Bpo Arena

Software exporter L&T Infotech, which has been lagging its larger rivals in growth rates and profitability, wants to add BPO capability  to its portfolio of offerings so it can provide customers with the full range of services starting from application development and testing to back-office processing. The company has appointed one of the big four consulting firms to advise on its BPO strategy. L&T Infotech is a fully-owned subsidiary of engineering giant Larsen & Toubro.

Hexaware Technologies Net Profit Jumps To Rs 36 Cr

IT and BPO service provider, Hexaware Technologies, today said its consolidated net profit jumped twofold to Rs 36.03 crore for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009, over the same period last year.   As per the Indian accounting standards, income declined to Rs 252 crore for the quarter ended December 31, from Rs 305.85 crore in the same period corresponding year, Hexaware Technologies said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. On the standalone basis, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 28.73 crore, a jump of over fourfold over the same period last year.

Bpo Sector Expects Sales To Grow This Year

The business process outsourcing sector (BPO) expects sales to grow by a quarter to $9 billion this year as the industry rides the wave of a general economic recovery. The industry’s revenues of $7.2 billion last year — a 19-percent increase — came in at the lower end of its target of $7.2-$7.4 billion due to the caution that prevailed among businesses in the first half, the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P) said on Monday.

Aegis Bpo Eyes On Kolkata Land

Aegis, the BPO arm of the Essar group, is close to acquiring 10 acres of prime land from the Buddhadeb government to set up an integrated  campus in Kolkata for an undisclosed sum. Aegis is looking to double capacity at its present 3,000-strong team of ITeS professionals in the city’s Salt Lake Electronics Complex (Saltlec).
